Home / CERN-Summer Student Internship -2017

For the first time, from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura one of our Physics Special Degree students, Miss. Chamini Pathiraja got selected for the summer student internship at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland-the most prominent particle physics research institute in the world.  Ms. Chamini Pathraja is planning to participate the program from 26th June to 18th August 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland. This summer internship includes travel cost and everything she needs during her stay at CERN Campus. This is a very rare opportunity for an undergraduate student to join research work at the world most prominent research institute which has the world largest particle physics accelerator lab.

On Thursday 25, June 2015 an agreement called “Expression of Interest (EOI) between CERN and Scientific Community in Sri Lanka” was signed between Sri Lanka’s permanent representative to the UN Geneva and Director General of CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. As a part of that action plan of EOI, Sri Lankan students get an opportunity to apply Summer Internship program at CERN in a competitive basis. In February 2016, the Coordinating Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI), Sri Lanka and University Grant Commission together requested to encourage the Physics special degree students to apply for the summer internship program-starting from 2016.
