{"id":4502,"date":"2024-07-31T18:20:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-31T18:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/science.sjp.ac.lk\/fes\/?p=4502"},"modified":"2024-01-31T19:23:19","modified_gmt":"2024-01-31T19:23:19","slug":"wildlife-conservation-and-management-at-anawillundawa-wetland-sanctuary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/science.sjp.ac.lk\/fes\/2024\/07\/31\/wildlife-conservation-and-management-at-anawillundawa-wetland-sanctuary\/","title":{"rendered":"Wildlife conservation and management at Anawillundawa wetland sanctuary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dr. Hasitha Karawita, a visiting lecturer, led 3rd-year undergraduate students from the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science on a practical field visit to Anawillundawa Wetland Sanctuary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hands-on experience included Transect Sampling, measuring abiotic factors, and becoming acquainted with tools like GPS loggers and densitometer for tree canopy density assessments The students also participated in species identification, including bird watching. To understand species-specific behavior, an ethogram for an individual bird species was constructed.
