Machine Learning Applications in Physics \u2013<\/strong> A Focus on Material Science<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The five-day workshop conducted from 16th to 20th March 2026, under the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) \u2013 Physics Without Frontiers (PWF) Sri Lanka program was successfully concluded in collaboration with the Department of Physics, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The program addressed existing gaps in machine learning (ML) training within the fields of physics and materials science in Sri Lanka. It provided participants with practical ML expertise through a combination of lectures and hands-on sessions, while also fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) sponsored the travel expenses of international speakers up to EUR 2400. All other local expenses were covered by the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS) and the National Academy of Sciences of Sri Lanka (NASSL), together with sponsorship partners, in accordance with their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
