Instrument Center of the Faculty of Applied Sciences (IC-FAS), University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJP) is a central research services facility with an extensive collection of analytical instruments for scientific research supervised by a professional academic staff. It is one of the premier academic laboratories in Sri Lanka. The instruments in the IC-FAS are available for use by all researchers in the USJP community as well as by academic or industrial researchers outside of USJP.
An undergraduate or a graduate student at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, USJP who wishes to have access to instruments in the IC-FAS should first obtain request from his or her research supervisor and then from the Lecturer-In-Charge (LIC) of the relevant instruments. The “Request Form” could be obtained either by click on this link, Request Form, or from the IC-FAS. Those who prefer to use the hard copy of the Request Form must enter the relevant information to online system after obtaining the necessary approvals prior to use the facility. Once you submit the Request Form, you have to reserve the instrument time to perform you experiment. You can reserve a time using on-line reservation system. For the first time users, you have to register at the instrument center. The Online registration can be done using this link. The duly completed user registration form with supervisor’s signature must be submitted to the IC-FAS to complete the registration process.
IC-FAS use by academic or industrial researchers outside of USJP is dependent upon approval by the coordinator, IC-FAS. Please contact the director for more information and to request access to the instruments.
Please contact us to arrange an appropriate hands-on training on the analytical instruments in the IC-FAS. This service is free only for the researchers in the USJP community. We do not let certain instruments to be handled by undergraduate students under any circumstances.
