Department of Sports Science
The Department of Sports Science (DSS), the 10th addition to FAS, was established in December 2017. The main purpose of the DSS is to offer the B.Sc. Honours in Sports Science and Management (SSM) degree which is a comprehensive degree programme that develops globally competent sports professionals.
The SSM degree programme was developed to produce graduates with a well-rounded academic foundation in Sports Science and Sport Management, who are effective advocates and leaders on the development of sports in Sri Lanka. At present, the degree programme is offered in collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, Faculty of Medical Sciences and Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute.
The programme was first introduced in 2013 and functioned under Office of the Dean, FAS until DSS was established in 2017. The first batch of SSM students graduated at the General Convocation 2017.
