The Zoological Museum of the Department of Zoology, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura harbors more than 8,000 specimens of both Sri Lanka and exotic species preserved as, wet, dry skins and skeletons. The collections are preserved for zoological, natural, and evolutionary studies while extensively used for teaching and for research purposes. New specimens are added frequently to the collection via the donations from official channels and ongoing research projects. The Zoological Museum is a valuable asset not only to the department but also to entire university system as well as the whole country.
