Dr. Mahesh Karunarathne, senior Lecturer, Department of Chemistry, University of Sri Jayewardenepura made the students aware of designing a scientific presentation and how to enhance its effectiveness by understanding the audience. Furthermore, he focused on the preparedness for the presentation. According to him, time management and body language during the presentation should be preplanned and practiced.
The great speech given by Prof. Raj Somadeva, Senior Lecturer & Professor in Archaeology, Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology, University of Kelaniya was about the beginning of the existence of human habitats in ancient Sri Lanka. He presented the evidences that they have found from their archeological explorations about Sri Lankans’ great history even before the arrival of Aryans.
The lecture on endnote 7 software was delivered by Dr. Ranga Jayakody, Senior Lecturer, Department of Chemistry, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. In his lecture he stated that inclusion of citations is vital in a proper dissertation. He explained how to access the research papers and to cite easily through the endnote 7 software.
Mr. M. A. N. Chandratilaka, Head of the Legal Student Unit, Department of Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, gave basic information on understanding the fundamental legal concepts and statutory controls in a business and social context. His speech was important to research students since he linked the legal bodies such as copy right law and patents with academics.
