ERC-FAS Successfully Conducted Its Second Student Workshop on Ethical Clearance Applications

The Ethics Review Committee of the Faculty of Applied Sciences (ERC-FAS) successfully conducted its second workshop titled “A Student Guide to Ethical Clearance Application” for final-year undergraduate students of the B.Sc. Honours in Sports Science and Management on 21st July 2026 at the NFC VI lecture hall, faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Sashie Weerasinghe, Senior Lecturer, Department of Sports Science and Management. She provided comprehensive guidance on how to complete ethical clearance application, and prepare supporting documents required for obtaining ethical clearance approval for undergraduate research projects. The session also highlighted common challenges encountered during the application process and shared practical strategies for preparing complete, accurate and high-quality submissions.

The programme was attended by 58 undergraduate students, reflecting the growing awareness of ethical research practices and the importance of obtaining ethical clearance
