Orientation Programme 2026
The Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura is delighted to welcome its new first year students to the upcoming Orientation Programme, commencing on 6th April 2026 at 9.30 a.m. at the Bandaranayake Hall. You are supposed to be seated at Bandaranayake Hall before 9.30 a.m.
Dress Code: There is no specific dress code. Your attire should be appropriate for the orientation programme and University atmosphere.
Mentoring WhatsApp Groups: Please join to your WhatsApp groups by referring the mentoring group number mentioned prior to your name. There are University Staff members to help you with required information.
This programme is thoughtfully designed to help students’ transition smoothly into the university life. It will feature a series of engaging sessions aimed at familiarising students with academic expectations, university resources, support services, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
- Inaugural Session: A warm welcome and introduction to the university community.
- Counselling Session: Offering guidance and support to help students to navigate their academic journey and future career aspects while promoting mental well-being.
- Library Orientation: Helping students to access library resources.
- Learning at the University Session: Sharing strategies for academic success.
- Mentoring Program: Fostering mentor-mentee relationships with academic staff.
- FAS Open Day: Interacting with academic staff members & exploring different Departments and Units.
The programme is designed not only to prepare students academically but also to support their personal development. Through a series of interactive workshops and seminars, students will cultivate essential skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork—skills that are vital for success both within and beyond the university.
More than just an introduction, the Orientation Programme serves as a platform for students to explore their potential, build meaningful connections, and lay a strong foundation for a rewarding university experience.
