The Department of Mathematics was established in 1968 and offered Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Management Science subjects for all students in the General Degree programs of the Faculty, including Biological Science students.
Mathematics is offered as one of the three subjects for the general degree. Mathematics Special Degree course is offered for the selected students, based on their performance in Mathematics during the first two years. Apart from these M.Sc. Program in Industrial Mathematics is also offered by the Department.
The special Degree program was started in 1976. In the first batch, the two students who followed the special Degree program were from the Biological Science Stream.
