Ms. M.D. Tilina L. Gunathilaka, a research student of Prof. Dinithi Peiris (Dept. of Zoology & Genetics and Molecular Biology Unit), Faculty of Applied Sciences won the second place for the Young Innovators Award in Health Sciences organized by the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Here we isolated a novel Fucoxanthin derivative form brown alga to manage hyperglycemic conditions. The projected was funded by the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
