Music has a remarkable power to bring people together, transcend boundaries, and create unforgettable memories. This spirit came alive at Kailashini 2026, a vibrant celebration of music, talent, friendship, and social responsibility, held on 22 October 2026 at Bandaranayake Hall, University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ).
Organized with enthusiasm and dedication by the inaugural batch of students of the Department of Polymer Science and Industrial Management (PSM), Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS), Kailashini 2026 transformed the evening into an extraordinary musical experience. With an enthusiastic audience filling the hall, the stage witnessed captivating performances by guest artists Chamindu Tharusha and Double Note, the university’s very own Flair Band, and exceptionally talented students of FAS. Together, these performances created an electrifying atmosphere that resonated with the audience long after the final notes faded away.
Beyond its musical brilliance, Kailashini 2026 stood as a powerful reflection of the vibrant student culture of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. The participation of students representing different faculties of USJ made the event a truly interfaculty celebration, demonstrating that creativity, entertainment, and friendship have no disciplinary or faculty boundaries. Students came together not merely as representatives of their respective faculties, but as members of one university community, united by music and shared experiences.
The choice of Bandaranayake Hall as the venue added another meaningful dimension to this celebration. Situated within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the hall became a symbolic meeting point of two faculties, reflecting the cordial relationship, mutual respect, and harmony between the Faculty of Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Kailashini 2026 beautifully demonstrated that the university’s academic and cultural communities can come together beyond traditional boundaries to celebrate talent, creativity, and student life.
The success of this remarkable initiative was made possible through the collective efforts of the organizing committee, the Society of Polymer Science, the academic staff of the Department, and the enthusiastic support of the student community. The dedication, teamwork, and perseverance of the inaugural PSM students deserve special appreciation for bringing this ambitious undertaking to life.
Kailashini 2026 also carried a meaningful social purpose. The generous contributions and support of its corporate partners and sponsors will help uplift the lives of schoolchildren facing significant hardships through the Imen Eha charity project. Heartfelt appreciation is extended to AP Education Pvt Ltd, Home Lands Skyline Pvt Ltd, ATG, Polyfix Pvt Ltd, Bank of Ceylon, SLT Mobitel, New Ariya Jewellers and Electricals, Abeygunawardene Associates Pvt Ltd, Sampath Tailors, SMK Graphics, Envision, Celeste, and Frella for their valuable contributions towards making this initiative a success.
Ultimately, Kailashini 2026 was much more than a musical event. It was a celebration of student leadership, interfaculty friendship, cultural inclusivity, and social responsibility. It demonstrated how university students can transform their creativity and collective energy into meaningful experiences that strengthen the bonds of their university community.
As the curtains closed on Kailashini 2026, one message remained clear: There are no barriers to entertainment, no boundaries to friendship, and no limits to what students can achieve when they come together.
The memories of Kailashini 2026 will undoubtedly remain a cherished chapter in the student life of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
