The Department of Zoology recently hosted “Biology Explorer Day Camp” as part of its ongoing Science Outreach Program designed to foster an interest in science among schoolchildren. The event brought together budding young scientists for a day of immersive experience aimed at unraveling the marvels of the natural world.
Participants delved into the wonders of biology through interactive sessions, engaging demonstrations and simulations led by faculty, Research Centers, Research Assistants and Postgraduate Students and Demonstrators. From dissecting owl pellets to exploring food webs, the camp transformed complex biological concepts into accessible, exciting adventures.
As per the Head of the Department, the goal of the event was to spark curiosity and show students that science is not just about textbooks, but it is about discovery, critical thinking, and connecting with the world around us. By offering early exposure to real-world applications, the department hopes to inspire the next generation of biologists to gain insights into how individual actions impact ecosystems, fostering a sense of responsibility toward environmental sustainability and seeing themselves as stewards of the planet.
This initiative underscores the Department’s commitment to community engagement and science education. By making learning dynamic and relatable, the Department of Zoology aims to cultivate lifelong enthusiasm for STEM fields. Plans are already underway to expand the Science Outreach Program, with future events to reach even more young learners.
Join with the Department of Zoology in nurturing tomorrow’s scientists—where curiosity meets purpose!
