Outstanding Performance as Students and Alumni Bring Glory to Sri Lanka

The Faculty of Applied Sciences proudly celebrates the remarkable achievements of its students and alumni from the Department of Sports Science at the 4th South Asian Athletics Championship 2025, held in India. Their exceptional performances not only brought glory to Sri Lanka but also highlighted the excellence of sports education and training at the Faculty.

Representing the nation with outstanding talent and determination, our athletes showcased their skills across multiple events:

Amasha De Silva (2018/19 Batch)

  • Gold – 4 x 100m Women’s Relay
  • Silver – 100m Women’s

Tharindu Dasun Samaraweera (2019/20 Batch – Fresh Graduate)

  • Gold – High Jump

Nishendra Harshani (2019/20 Batch – Fresh Graduate)

  • Silver – 4 x 400m Women’s Relay

Sumedha Ranasinghe (2012/13 Batch – Former Olympian)

  • Silver – Men’s Javelin Throw

Ishara Samanmali (Current 3rd Year Student)

  • 4th Place – Women’s Long Jump
