Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura shared his views on “Effective ways on Plastic and Polythene Managemnt” with “Divaina” news paper on 13th August 2017.
“Many developed countries all over the world have been able to turn their plastic and polythene waste into money while avoiding environmental pollution. There are many waste managing methods like Reduce, Reuse and Recycling. But countries like Sri Lanka is still struggling to find solutions for theses things. Benefits of plastic and polythene waste are commonly discussed by many people but not practiced. People do not aware about these things. Rather than banning them in the country we have to see plastic and polythene as an increasing resource but not a waste” he further explained.
