Two projects conducted at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Applied Sciences, won E- Swabhimani 2017 awards presented by the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) on 30.11.2017 and held at the Galdari Hotel, Colombo.
Ms. Harini Wijesinghe, a past student of the B.Sc. (Hons) in Applied Sciences and the team, won a certificate for developing a computer system, titled “Gift of Life”, that can be used to store information about blood donors and intended recipients.
Mr. Malinda Punchimudiyanse, a Ph.D. student and the team, won an award for developing an interactive software that can translate Sinhala text to Sinhala sign language funded by the National Science Foundation. The project was titled as “වදන් චලන”.
The two projects were supervised by Prof. R.G.N. Meegama of the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Applied Sciences.
